Paintings on Metal and Foil

I first started experimenting with painting on aluminum foil about eight years ago. That first painting, an oil, is still around, hanging on my wall. About six years ago I returned to the notion of painting on metal, but wanted a more flowing, less structured effect, and found acrylic to be the ideal medium. I've always been interested in how colors come together to create other colors and how putting layers of color together creates texture and how putting certain colors together creates a mood.

A few years ago I discovered thin sheets of aluminum and steel. The paint gets to slip and slide and run and hide, and I get to discover what lies within all those layers of color and expose wondrous shapes and unique colors, create moods of light or dark, and invite the viewer along on my journey.
